The Red Cross is a Non-Profit organization designed to help families and communities in times of need, especially disaster relief. The community turns to the Red Cross after devastating floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. to give help to those who are affected by disasters. Assistance is also available for those who need help receiving warm meals during the winter months especially, but help is available year-round. The chapter also helps out the community by providing transportation services to appointments to those who need assistance getting around. Frequent blood drives help people who might need help during times of ill health. Together with the community, the Summit County Chapter of the American Red Cross makes Akron a great place to call home. |
